We want to thank everyone who participated in this inaugural SILS Summer Reading Program!  This year we had 23 participants who earned 547 points!  Well done!  To show our appreciation, we have bookmarks for everyone and want to invite you all to join us at Sugarland on Sept. 14 from 4:00pm - 6:00pm.  At this celebratory event, all winners and participants will receive their prizes!

Hey Everyone!  SILS Summer Reading is now over and the submission link has been turned off.  Thank you to everyone who participated!  We had over 230 submissions and will be posting the rest of them over the coming week!  R-O-C-K, you ROCK, you ROCK!  We will be tallying the points and announcing the winners next week as well.

Congratulations and thanks to everyone for making this Summer Reading debut a great one!

Several of you have asked for point updates so here you go!  As of today, June 13th, the top contenders are as follows:

1st Place: Dawn Dvorak (39 points)
2nd Place: Martha Waters & Kate Barr (33 points)
3rd Place: Allie Massey (17 points...although she is on the executive board so it doesn't count.  Sorry Allie!)
4th Place: Nicole Downing (9 points)

Even though the first three ladies have a big lead on points, it's only the middle of June and there are still two months of reading to go!  I say it's anyone's ball game.  Keep your eye on the prize(s) and your nose in a book!

You know when you get that question about steampunk and you have literally never, ever, even thought about reading a single steampunk book and you very, very smoothly go get a different librarian in hopes maybe they know a little bit about what you're trying to advise someone about?

What does this mean? COYL isn't about to read all the stuff y'all are devoting so much awesome time to. But even if you're too busy/lazy to write a review, we'll post what you have read here, so that other people know who to bother when they need to know/are vaguely curious about a book they think a classmate may have read. Ask in the comments below the post, or, like, in real life.

Hooray!  The much anticipated SILS Summer Reading Program is officially open for Summer 2013!  The summer is here and with it returns that old past-time, pleasure reading (big sigh)...or reading for summer classes (wince).  And this year, your friendly COYL board is giving you the opportunity to share your reads with our community and earn points towards gift cards and fun prizes!
